Introduction of water emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive.
Industry news / 2019-01-14

Water emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive is a kind of rubber pressure sensitive adhesive which is made up of various rubber latex as main material and water as dispersing medium, together with tackifier emulsion, antioxidant and other additives. This kind of pressure-sensitive adhesives has been noticed for a long time. However, their initial viscosities and 180 degree peeling strength are generally not as good as the corresponding solution pressure sensitive adhesives.

In addition to the large molecular weight of rubber latex, the main reason is that there are more surfactants on the surface of latex particles. These surfactants will accumulate on the surface of pressure sensitive adhesives and the bonding interface between the adhesive layer and the substrate after coating and drying, which will lead to the initial adhesion of pressure sensitive adhesives. The decrease of bonding force and bonding force.

Therefore, the development of water emulsion rubber pressure sensitive adhesives is mostly focused on how to improve the initial adhesion and peel force of adhesives. Although many methods to improve the viscosity have been proposed in the special literature, they have not been greatly developed for a long time because they can not catch up with the same kind of solution products in overall performance.

Only after the impact of the oil crisis in the mid-1970s and the enactment of strict environmental pollution laws have people really vigorously developed. At present, there are many practical applications in the United States and Japan, especially in the manufacture of kraft adhesive tapes, pressure-sensitive adhesive labels and other paper-based pressure-sensitive adhesive products. In the future, their importance will continue to increase. In China, the development of emulsion type pressure sensitive adhesives has just begun.
