At present, soft packaging industry compound commonly used adhesive has no solvent adhesive, water adhesive and solvent adhesive 3 categories. European and American developed countries pay great attention to environmental protection. The soft packaging compound production uses mainly solvent free adhesive and water adhesive. Soft-packaging manufacturers in most countries in Asia and Africa are still dominated by solvent adhesives. For example, in Japan, where the soft packaging industry is relatively developed, solvent adhesives account for more than 90 % of the market share.

According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 6000 soft packaging production enterprises in China, mainly in the Pearl river Delta, Yangtze river delta and parts of Hebei province and Shandong province. In these areas, more than 95 % of soft-packaging manufacturers use solvent adhesives, and less than 5 % of companies use environmentally friendly adhesives(solvent adhesives and aqueous adhesives).

At present, nearly 400 manufacturers of soft packaging adhesive in our country, it is estimated that the annual production of domestic adhesive is about 60,000 tons, of which the main position is still solvent adhesive. Well-known production companies include Zhongshan Kanghe, Zhejiang New Oriental, Shanghai Lieyin, Beijing Gaomeng, Beijing Chemical Research Institute(Beihua Institute), and Jiangsu Jintan. In recent years, some famous foreign adhesive manufacturers have also stepped up their investment and development efforts in the Chinese market, and have established factories in China, such as Hangao, Mitsui Takeda, Romerhaas, Brigitte and other companies, and international manufacturers. It has greatly increased the production level and production capacity of adhesive in the domestic market.
