With the rise of plastic steel, plastic wood and coal to change gas, coal to change electricity and other industries, we can expect that polyethylene in pipe, household products, industrial chemical packaging, food, pharmaceutical packaging, automotive components and other fields continue to grow.
In the coming years, China's demand for plastic films is expected to grow by around 7 per cent, of which about 70 per cent is used as packaging material, 18 per cent is used as agricultural plastic film, and the rest is used as electrical material, photosensitive material and electronic information material. With the continuous emergence of new materials, equipment and new technology, China's plastic film will promote the diversification, specialization and multi-functional composite film development. Plastic hollow blown plastic containers are a major direction of rapid development of Chinese plastics. Its use has covered domestic products, industrial chemical packaging, food medicinal packaging, automotive components, and transportation pallets. With the development of national economy, the market demand for plastic hollow containers in all areas of China will continue to maintain a high growth momentum.
With the deepening of China's reform and opening up and the increasing state investment in infrastructure construction, the demand for plastic pipelines has been growing at an average annual rate of more than 15 %, especially in the construction of urban water supply and drainage pipelines. Plastic pipes play an increasingly important role. In the future, with the improvement of production technology and the continuous expansion of applications, its demand will continue to increase rapidly. From the point of view of export, China's polyethylene products are mainly re-exported and exported to Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia through Hong Kong. It is understood that due to the deepening of bilateral and multilateral agreements with ASEAN, the ROK and other regions and countries, as well as the continuous development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the advantages and opportunities of Chinese polyethylene products in these regions have gradually increased.
At the same time, the competition brought about by the expansion of production capacity in China's polyethylene industry will drive the price center of gravity of PE, a domestic plastic raw material, down. With the continuous optimization of domestic petrochemical properties and costs of polyethylene products, the competitiveness and export volume of Chinese polyethylene products will continue to increase in the future.. From the perspective of alternative products, it is analyzed that in the fields of injection molding, pipe material and packaging, imported raw materials with more advantageous prices such as recycled particles and polypropylene will either accelerate the replacement of PE-related products, or will give PE raw material market greater pressure.
